Aunty A's Medal Haul

Aunty A's Medal Haul, originally uploaded by EclipseAu.

Ipswich Police Citizens Youth Club's , Trampolining Club held its yearly championships today at their Dinmore Campus.

Aunty A and SML were both competing, albeit in seperate divisions. Aunty A in the Womens 4 division and SML in the Mens 2.

Finding the "Dinmore Campus" was our first hurdle of the day.

I had asked Aunty A for directions yesterday and at one point in the directions she held up her right hand and said turn Left ???????

WT !!!

Anyway following the directions seemed simple enough..... turn left after the dump and go along the road a way and you're there.

The reality: turned left after the dump, travelled along the road for about 7 hours before finally finding the shed. LOL

The Aunty A cheer squad was there: US, KLB and I & C, Big Nanna, DML, ML and SL and Kids.

First up was Aunty A on the Double Mini tramp, then SML on the Tramp.

In Flight ....

We then had to take off to get our Family portrait done at Corinda State School.

After the portrait we headed back to the champs to see the tail end of Aunty A's tramp routine, but we were unlucky at they were running early and AA had already done her routine.

Finally the medal presentations before heading home.

Mens 2 Medal Presentation - Double Mini
Then were rounded off the day with a swim at the local pool where after only a short time in the water the contents of my ocular cavity were singed beyond repair. Someone needs to let the pool operator know that he is supposed to add at least some water to the chlorine before it goes in the pool.

Damn !!!!

Our Trip to Byron Bay

Byron Bay Lighthouse, originally uploaded by EclipseAu.

On Saturday, I packed up the family and we headed off for a bit of a get away to help take our minds of our sadness at losing our Aami yesterday.

First stop was Jupiters Casino for Breaky. We had the buffet at Food Fantasy.

Then we headed off for a swim at Tallebudgera beach.

After an hour there we decided to go for a drive down the coast, and we ended up at Byron Bay.

None of us had ever been there before. We saw the lighthouse and stood at the most easterly point on the east coast of Australia.

Girls most easterly point

We Had a late lunch of Chips and potato cakes from a little cafe on the beach and watch a wedding party getting their photos taken.

RIP AAMI

RIP AAMI, originally uploaded by EclipseAu.

Aami was a beautiful dog.

We had to make the heartwrenching decision today to let our beautiful girl go to heaven. We miss her very much.

For 16 years she has been very much a part of our family. From the early days when she and Maddie were our babies, to seeing the girls become part of our family and growing up with them, to the final years of her life as she slowed down to spend more time with us in the house curled up on her bed.

Rest In Peace our precious girl.

We love you.

Smythville goes to Brassall Community Fair

Today Ipswich State High School and Brassall State School held a combined fair to raise money for the respective schools.

We went along to partake of the Sausages in bread and pancakes from the Pancake parlour.

We were originally going to lend our support to the Ipswich North Scouts who do the snags in bread, but we couldn't find them, so the money went to the schools.

I helped CB and JP build a leggo tower today.

As you can see it was nearly as tall as CB.

BBQ at Kholo Gardens

BBQ at Kholo Gardens, originally uploaded by EclipseAu.

On the agenda for Smythville today was a BBQ with some mates.

Shane and Leila were back in Country from Riyadh and Abu Dhabi and were keen for a meetup so we organised a little soiree at Kholo Gardens.
Shane and LeilaIt was awesome to catch up with everyone outside of work. We need to do this more often.

After everyone left we took the girls for a walk in the rainforest creek. On the way back up CB started screaming and ran out of the water crying. To our surprise she had nearly stood on a snake in the creek.
Snake in the Water
We stood and watched it for a while and it just stayed there, its head just sticking up through the water until I went down to have a closer look, then it disappeared under the water.

Some Info about Kholo Gardens:

The Kholo Botanical Gardens is a small park located on a bluff overlooking the Brisbane River with a path leading down to the river.

The park was established in 1988 as a bicentennial project. It has two 1878 vintage pump wells on site, the original source of water for the ‘city’ of Ipswich.

Featuring significant remnant vegetation has been enhanced with more ornamental native plants combined with a few exotic species. A protected gully has been restored to preserve local rainforest species and a boardwalk created to maximise enjoyment of the experience.

Of interest in the Gardens are the 50m tall Queensland Kari pine and 60m tall hoop pine planted by early settlers. A number of water features including water falls and ponds attract native birds and provide restful spots for family picnics on the nearby lawns.

For public use covered cooking facilities are present and further development will include refurbishment of the historic “Woollen Mills” homestead relocated to the site, additional parkland improvements and upgrades to park amenities.

The Kholo Botanic Gardens has been overlooked on tourist destination booklets however it is a location that provides an ideal escape on weekends for families, couples, bird watchers and plant lovers.

Address: Kholo Botanical Gardens, Riverside Road, Kholo, Ipswich

Day Trip to Robina and Fingal Heads

I had an Appointment today at Robina Town Centre Apple Store to get my iPhone fixed. The glass of the display screen had started coming unstuck.

After I had finished at the Apple store CB and I walked back around to the Hairdressers to collect NP and JP.
NP_Fingal_Heads
We then went for a bit of a drive around and Ended up at Fingal Heads. These Photos of Mum and the Girls were taken at the beach adjacent to the Fingal Holiday Park at Prince Street, Fingal Head.

CB Fingal Heads BeachJP Fingal Heads BeachWe checked out the caravan park before heading up to the Lighthouse for a bit of a sticky just around the corner. Getting to the lighthouse is a 5-10 minute (depends whether you are just strolling or walking) journey along a mainly sandy track.

The Picture of the Girls doing the "Queens of the World" pose was taken on the point, below the Lighthouse over looking Cook Island (seen in the background).

There is a snappin' little beach just off the right of the headland where the lighthouse is perched. I think it is called Dreamtime Beach.

We had a great afternoon up until the point CB stabbed her foot on a stick.

We finished off the arvo with tea at the "PA" at Jupiters.

Effective Truck Message

Effective Truck Message, originally uploaded by EclipseAu.

On our way down to Robina to get my iPhone fixed (they replaced the whole display) we found this truck with what we thought a very simple and yet effective message.

Have a look at the writing on the back of this truck in the lower left and right corners.

For those that can't read it:

On the right hand bottom corner it says: "Passing Side"

On the left hand bottom corner it says: "Suicide"
