Our Trip to the Carnival of Flowers

This is one of the gardens we visited.  A beautiful garden.

The girls loved rolling around on the bindii free grass.

In Queens Park there is a formal garden.  You can see it on the google map here.

We took this photo of all the girls in Queens Park.

I took this photo of CB in Queens Park.

Man, what a wild drive !

As you can see in the photo, we were heading into a storm on our way home from the "Carnival of Flowers", but what we didn't know was how fierce the storm was going to be.

By the time we reached Plainlands it was fairly bucketing down. By Minden we were doing about 40km/h.

We didn't dare stop as we were worried about hail.

NP had to contend with not only the rain but me passenger seat driving as well.

The irony of it all is that we left Toowoomba early to get back before the rain started.

Heaven for little girls

While we were in Toowoomba for the Carnival of Flowers, we found this little shop called "Fairies on the Downs". The fairy in charge on Sunday the 21st was excellent with the girls. She gave them fairy wish glitter to throw around when making a wish and put the fairy bubble machine on.

Smythville goes to Gatton

Well, we decided to go for a drive on sunday. We headed out to Laidley originally, but once we got there we decided to head over to Gatton.

Apex Lake was our destination. There was a monorail bike for the kids to ride, a little playground and heaps of Ducks, Geese, Ibises an other birds to feed. Once we started feeding them, more came from out of nowhere. JP fed one goose her finger, he must have thought it was tasty as he didn't let it go for about 5 seconds. CB was scared of the geese, probably because of the loud honking noises.

We were going to have a barbie lunch but as we drove past it looked as if there were only wood bbq's there.

We headed up the road and had a countery at the Gatton View Hotel. A decent meal for about the same as it would cost to go to KFC or Maccas.

They even had colouring books to keep the kids amused.

We had a great afternoon. Even NP got a ride on the rockin animal toy.

Rembering 9/11

At some point in the day I happened to realise the date today.

September 11.

When I think back 7 years ago now, it seems hardly that long.

I still find it incredulous that someone could do what those people did.

This is not a war that can be won on the battlefield.

Slackness or Sickness

Well, this week has seen a veritable negative smorgasboard of postings from me. I have been laid up with a sinus infection. I am on the mend now, so more from us very soon. Chat ya soon. P

Finally, haircuts.

Well, after what seems like an eternity and about a million dollars spent on headlice treatment chemicals, we have finally been able to get the girls a haircut.

The school system sucks for it's political correctness and civilian rights. When I contacted the school about their policy on headlice, I was politely informed that the school cannot search the kids heads as it is an invasion of their privacy.

Invasion of privacy, what about the invasion by headlice on my childs head or the invasion on my wallet due to the prices of the treatments.

When will the Queensland Department of Education wake up to themselves. I'm sure most of the policies are drafted and approved by burecrats who do not have children or at least are do not have children currently at school.

Make the parents accountable for their lack of action. If an outbreak occurs in a class ( 1 case ) the children should be excluded from class untill proof is provided to the school that the child has been treated. Parental accountability should not be transferred onto the teachers as is so often the case.

Careful if you travel by Concorde

Man, you should have seen this maniac this morning.

He slammed on the brakes so hard at the corner, things he had on the front seat, flew off and hit the windscreen and fell into the stairwell. He then proceeded to fly off down the hill then stopped suddenly again, right on front of the bus stop.

Once I reached the bus stop, I was surprised to see the driver get out, open one of the doors to under the bus and forcibly throw a metal ? Bucktet/ Can under the bus so hard it hit the other side with such force then slammed the door shut again.

Then if that wasn't enough, once he got back in the bus it sounded like he was kicking things around in there. I hope for the companies sake this guy gets a talking to before he gets passengers killed.

Delicious GC Pineapple (now with added BOLT)

When I was at the day care centre yesterday, the cook came out to the office to show us the contents if the tin of pineapple she had just opened. Lo and behold, there it was, a Huuuge bolt. I surmise that at sometime in the canning process this little beauty came loose from the machine and ended up in the pot.

I realise that it is all the rage for manufacturers to fortify their products with beneficial ingredients, but adding this much iron in one hit is pushing the friendship a little too far.

Don't you think?

Ahhhh Crap - Hard drive FAILURE

I was working away tonight and started getting errors pop up in the window saying that different parts of my G drive (the drive i keep all my music and photos on it) were corrupted.

Not Happy Jan !!!!!!!

I am currently trying to recover the files.

Lets just say that I am far from a happy chappy ATM.

I'll Keep U posted
